2 dead of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in ice fishing tent in northern Alberta

Two men found dead in an ice fishing tent in a northern Alberta provincial park may have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning.

The bodies of a 45-year-old Fort McMurray man and a 37-year-old Labrador City, N.L., man were found inside the tent in a remote area of Crow Lake Provincial Park.

Mounties were alerted Saturday around 4 p.m. and responded to the area with Lac La Biche Fire/EMS and Fort McMurray Fish and Wildlife.

Investigators believe a heating source used inside the tent may have led to carbon monoxide poisoning.

An autopsy has been scheduled and the investigation is ongoing.
