City of Edmonton to lift residential parking ban Friday

The City of Edmonton will lift the Phase 2 parking ban on Friday at 7 p.m.. The parking ban began on Jan. 7 after several substantial snowfalls this winter season.

The ban which was supposed to last 10 days, was in effect for 14 days, because of fluctuating temperatures and additional snow during the length of the ban.

Edmonton road crews left a remaining snowpack on residential roads to reduce windrows and potential drainage issues.

City crews maintain 12,000 kilometres of roadways and 500 kilometres of active pathways and will also look into areas with rutting, additional snow accumulation and traction concerns.

The City encourages residents to report winter road concerns through 311 as it helps identify trends, coordinate responses and ensure the most efficient service delivery.
