‘Shoot the school’: Police respond to ‘unsubstantiated’ threat at Beaumont middle school

By News Staff

Police say a possible shooting threat at a school in Beaumont Wednesday morning is unsubstantiated.

Beaumont RCMP say a witness reported seeing the message “shoot the school” in the snow outside JE Middle School in Beaumont.

Officers attended the school around 8:40 a.m. “as a precaution to ensure the safety of the students while an initial investigation was undertaken.”

Police say classes were not interrupted as a result of the threat.

“The RCMP takes all reports of this nature seriously,” Mounties said in a news release. “Our top priority is the safety and security of our schools. We understand that situations like this can cause concern but we are committed to investigating any potential threat to ensure the well-being of our community.”

Beaumont RCMP say they are investigating the source of the threat.
