If Alberta parents are anything, it’s consistent.
The province announced Monday that Olivia and Noah have captured the top baby name spots in Alberta for the sixth year in a row.
Olivia has held the top spot since 2012, and 2024 marks Noah’s sixth year in a row in the top spot for boys.
According to the government, the next longest reigning name after Olivia was Ethan, holding the top spot for nine consecutive years between 2001 and 2009, followed by Liam, with seven years from 2010 to 2016.
Charlotte, Amelia, Sophia, Emma and Ava were among the top five most popular names for baby girls, while Oliver, Liam, Theodore and Henry rounded out the top five choices for baby boys.
Minister for Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, Dale Nally, says announcing the year’s top baby names is his favourite event of the year.
More than 50,000 births were registered in Alberta in 2024.
