Edmontonians believe 2025 will be a good year

Many Edmontonians rang in the new year by remembering the year that was and looking forward to the year that’s coming.

Hundreds of Edmontonians packed Churchill Square New Year’s Eve for ice skating, music, and fireworks.

Multiple people that CityNews spoke to said there were a lot of positives in 2024.

“Changed jobs, bought a house, so pretty good year overall,” said Alex Kiciak, Edmontonian.

“I got to start the job that I’ve been waiting for and then this year same thing, keep trucking with the little two, three-year-old’s,” said Brandon and Alex Blok, Edmontonians.

Others started a whole new life in Canada this year, and now they’re embracing the cold.

“It’s a dream came true that we came to Canada,” said Udit Rai, newcomer from India.

“This is our first winter and we are enjoying winter also. We love the ice and snow very much, everything is very beautiful,” said Rai.

Now that we change the calendars and enter 2025, there is a sense of optimism and hope for the new year.

“I guess I want to stay active this year. Hopefully, get on a nice warm beach vacation. Keep having a good year, good life with my wife,” said Kiciak.

“Our first priority is for my kids, so that they get the better education and wherever they want to be in. The first priority is my family,” said Rai.
