Fire destroys home in south Edmonton

A south Edmonton home near 20th avenue and 57th street southwest in the Walker neighborhood, destroyed after being engulfed in flames, on Friday night.

Up to 34 firefighters were on scene including a ladder truck.

Edmonton fire rescue says the blaze likely began in the garage and spread up into the roof.

With the holiday season underway, Edmonton fire wants to make sure everyone stays safe.

“Watch the open candles for sure. We still have a lot of that going on right, and have a good holiday,” said District Chief Paul Brooks.

No one was injured.

Fire investigators continue to work on finding an official cause.
