Red Deer Mountie faces charges for transferring intimate images of person in hospital

A Red Deer Mountie is facing breach of trust charges along with transferring intimate images without consent.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was called to investigate the RCMP officer on Nov. 28 after he accessed images on a detained person’s phone and transmitted them without consent.

The incident allegedly occurred on Nov. 23 at the Red Deer Hospital while the person was receiving treatment.

Const. Matthew Villeneuve was formally charged on Dec. 12.

He was released and is set to appear in court on Feb. 26.

ASIRT says no further information is being released due to the matter being before the courts.
