Police still looking for suspect in south Edmonton convenience store robberies

Police are looking for a suspect allegedly responsible for two convenience store robberies in south Edmonton in the span of six days.

The Edmonton Police Service says a suspect first robbed a convenience store in the Greenfield neighbourhood on Nov. 23. The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the store clerk and walked behind the counter before filling three garbage bags with cigarettes and cash from the register.

Police allege the same suspect robbed a convenience store at 17 Street and Millwoods Road on Nov. 29. EPS says around 5:46 a.m., a man wearing a medical mask entered the store, took out a gun and demanded cigarettes and cash from the clerk. The suspect then jumped behind the counter and filled a garbage bag with cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a man between the ages of 16 and 20, around five-foot-nine, with a fit build, and long, curly black hair.

During the Nov. 29 robbery, he was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes, a white medical mask and black gloves. The suspect’s weapon was described to police as a black or dark grey handgun with paint chips and scratches on its frame.

Edmonton police are asking residents in Pollard Meadows, Crawford Plains and Daly Grove to check their dashcam and security camera footage for any suspicious activity on Nov. 29 between 4:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m.
