Edmonton Transit’s “Stuff a Bus” campaign is back for its 30th year – from Wednesday to Sunday.
The annual event – always in the lead-up to the holidays – is taking place at 19 participating Save-On-Foods locations across Edmonton and its surrounding areas. A full list of donation locations is available here.
The campaign collects non-perishable food and financial for those in need in Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Sherwood Park.
“Every holiday season, Edmonton comes alive with cheer and spirit. But this time of year can also be challenging for many families,” said Mayor Amarjeet Sohi. “Edmontonians understand that making a great city requires empathy and looking out for one another. This is why the ETS Stuff a Bus campaign began 30 years ago.”
From Wednesday to Friday, three Save-On-Foods locations will host the “cram a cruiser” event.
On Saturday, donations will be collected at the participating Save-On-Foods locations.
There will also be a “stuff a train” event at Century Park on Saturday, and another at Clareview LRT station on Sunday.
It comes at a time when demand for food banks have risen sharply.
Since its inception, ETS says the “Stuff a Bus” campaign has collected 600,000 kilograms of food and $515,000 in cash donations.
