3 Edmonton restaurants crack Canada’s top 100

Three Edmonton restaurants have cracked a list of top 100 restaurants in Canada in 2024.

OpenTable — which is a part of Booking Holdings Inc. and helps restaurants fill seats — has revealed its annual list of Canada’s best restaurants this year after reviewing and analyzing over a million reviews, diner ratings and looking at reservation demand.

The data captured between January and September found that 16 of Canada’s top 100 restaurants are in Alberta, with three being in Edmonton.

Those three are: Bernadette’s, Sabor Restaurant, and Tzin Wine & Tapas.

Bernadette’s is a restaurant wine bar located on 104 Street near Jasper Avenue. OpenTable’s data determined that the restaurant averaged a rating of 4.9 out of 5 for food, service and ambience, and averaged an overall review rating of 4.6.

Sabor Restaurant is located along 103 Street near 102 Avenue. OpenTable’s data determined that the restaurant averaged a rating of 4.9 of 5 for food, a 4.8 of 5 for service and ambience, and averaged an overall review rating of 4.6

Tzin Wine & Tapas is located on 104 Street near Jasper Avenue, and is making its return to OpenTable’s top 100 list after making the list for five straight years between 2017 and 2021.

According to OpenTable’s data, Tzin Wine & Tapas averaged a food rating of 4.9 out of 5, a 4.8 for ambience, and averaged an overall review rating of 4.7. The restaurant scored perfectly in service reviews.

Calgary picked up 11 of Alberta’s 16 restaurants on the list, with Banff taking the final two.

British Columbia had 15 restaurants on the top 100 list with the majority being in Vancouver. Ontario picked up 53 of the top 100, with the majority of restaurants being located in Toronto. Quebec picked up 13 spots on the list, with 12 of the restaurants being in Montreal. Saskatoon picked up two spots and St. John’s, Newfoundland rounded off the list with one.

OpenTable’s data found that many Canadians have started dinning out on Wednesdays. The middle of the week saw a 16 per cent increase for people dinning out compared to 2023.

Additionally, there was a 13 per cent increase in dining between 4-6 p.m., while group dining also saw an increase of 18 per cent, making it the largest increase compared to other party sizes.
