By CityNews Staff

As 55,000 Canada Post workers went on strike Friday morning, the City of Edmonton has issued a notice saying some of their services might be impacted.

The City says services that might be impacted including the ability to pay bills, development permits, and other legal matters will not be able to be sent via mail, however, some services are still available online.

For those who pay for facility rental, and uninsured damages to City property, rent, and leases, can still do so by paying online, through their bank, by phone, or in person at the Edmonton Service Centre, as applicable.

Those looking to pay traffic or parking tickets can also do so by paying online or in person at the Edmonton Service Centre. Provincial traffic tickets can also be paid online at Alberta Fine Payments.

Additionally, the City says automated enforcement tickets will not be mailed during the strike, however, tickets that should have been sent during that time will be mailed once mail service resumes.

For development permits, the City says notifications for permitted developments and discretionary developments will not be mailed, however, they will be posted online on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Other services that will not be mailed, but where Edmontonians can visit online include the Leisure Access Program, neighbourhood renewals, lost or damaged Residential Parking Program permits, and submitting a claim against the City.

Help for various services will also be available at the Edmonton Service Centre, which is located on the second floor of Edmonton Tower (10111 104 Ave.) and is open between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
