12-year-old charged in connection to McDonald’s stabbing in Edmonton

Edmonton police says a 12-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault after an 11-year-old was stabbed at a McDonald’s late last week.
EPS says around 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, officers responded to a stabbing at a McDonald’s restaurant near 153 Avenue and Castle Downs Road.
Initial reports indicated that an altercation took place between five boys aged 9 to 12. During the altercation, one boy was stabbed, and the others all fled the scene.
The 11-year-old was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Police say they’ve since been able to identify all the boys involved and a 12-year-old has since been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
Police note that the victim was not known by the other boys at the time, and no other charges are expected at this time.
