1 dead after truck crashes into Fort McMurray Boston Pizza, Calgary man faces charges: RCMP

A Calgary man is facing charges after a pickup truck smashed through a Boston Pizza in Fort McMurray and killed a woman Saturday, Mounties say.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say it happened just before noon at the pizza restaurant in the downtown area.
They say a Ford F350 drove into the restaurant and caused “significant structural damage” to the building at Franklin Avenue and Richards Street
A woman, a 24-year-old employee, was struck by the pickup. Police say she was rushed to hospital but later died from her injuries.
RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says people rushed to help the woman before EMS took over.
“There were people running to get an AED — a defibrillator, and doing CPR,” he told 660 NewsRadio.
“I’ve gone to these scenes before and it’s really fascinating to see how everybody comes together and does everything that they can to save somebody when something tragic happens.”
Witnesses said the man behind the wheel of the truck appeared to have suffered a seizure.
Mounties have charged the driver and lone occupant of the truck, Calgary resident 28-year-old Roger Sierra, with criminal negligence causing death.
A social media post says the restaurant is closed until further notice due to the “Sudden and tragic passing of one of our BP family members.”
“We appreciate everyone reaching out, and all of your support. Please have respect for the family, friends and co-workers at this time,” the post reads.
Mounties also gave their condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the deceased.
