Man charged after attempted armed robbery in St. Albert

Alberta RCMP says a 41-year-old man is facing seven charges following an armed robbery on Oct. 30.

Mounties in St. Albert responded to a report that a man was attempting to rob a store employee with a knife at the Smart Centre Shopping Plaza on St. Albert Trail around 8:30 a.m.

The man fled the scene prior to officers arriving but was located a short time later and taken into custody.

Since, 41-year-old Ryan Gambler has been charged with robbery, assault, possession of a weapon, disobeying a court order and resisting arrest.

Gambler is expected to appear in court on Nov. 18.
