Police in Alberta say an 18-year-old woman was killed in a collision involving her SUV and a school bus on a highway west of Edmonton Tuesday afternoon.

The passenger of the SUV was taken by STARS to hospital where they remain in critical condition, police say. The driver of the school bus – the lone occupant of that vehicle – was hospitalized with non serious injuries.

Parkland RCMP say officers were called to the scene of the collision on Highway 627 and Range Road 273 at 2:12 p.m.

The 18-year-old was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the SUV was driving south on Range Road 273 and crossing Highway 627 when it was struck by the school bus travelling east on Highway 627.
