Police rescue stranded boaters on North Saskatchewan River

By News Staff

Mounties say they helped rescue boaters who were stranded on the North Saskatchewan River last week.

Parkland RCMP say a jet boat ran aground on a rock bed in the middle of the river on the afternoon of Oct. 15.

A swift water rescue team was deployed.

“With guidance from an RCMP officer, the stranded boaters were taught how to use their on-board winch which they then used to dislodge themselves from the rock bed and returned safely to shore,” Parkland RCMP said in a news release.
