Suspicious death of 68-year-old man found injured on LRT footbridge

Edmonton police say a 68-year-old man’s death on Friday night is being investigating by homicide detectives.

The Edmonton Police Service says a man was found injured on the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge – the walking path next to the High Level Bridge – around 9:15 p.m.

Paramedics treated and took the man to hospital, where he died of his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Investigators believe someone may have seen something or captured footage that may be relevant to the investigation.

“We are aware that there were numerous pedestrians and e-bike riders in the area at the time, and we are asking anyone with information to contact police immediately,” Staff Sgt. Rob Bilawey with the EPS homicide section said in a news release.

“We also know that several of these people may have GoPro or similar cameras that were active at the time. What may seem like insignificant video, may have captured valuable information for investigators and we encourage them to come forward.”
