Edmonton police say Alberta’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate an arrest that was made Thursday morning, after a woman was injured.
EPS says around 9:33 a.m. on Oct. 10, officers responded to a report that rocks were being thrown at vehicles near 127 Avenue and 97 Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old woman, who they say looked to be heavily intoxicated.
While talking with the woman, an altercation reportedly broke out, and an officer and the woman were injured.
Both were taken to hospital by paramedics. EPS says the officer had non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman’s were also non-life-threatening injuries, but serious.
Charges against the woman are pending, and EPS notes the incident has been reported to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
