Man charged in connection to January murder in Maskwacis

Alberta RCMP says a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection to the murder of Wyatt Omeasoo earlier this year.

Mounties say around 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 28, officers were called to help paramedics with a 25-year-old man. The man was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

At the time, his death was considered suspicious.

Through an autopsy, the man was identified as 25-year-old Omea Wyatt Omeasoo of Maskwacis.

Over the course of an investigation, RCMP were able to take 24-year-old Chervaine Saddleback into custody on Sept. 28, in connection to the death.

Saddleback has since been charged with second-degree murder. He is expected to appear in court on Oct. 3.
