Attempted murder charge laid after after assault near shelter south of Edmonton

RCMP in Wetaskiwin has charged a 36-year-old with attempted murder after a man was found injured in a field in August.

On Aug. 13, Mounties responded to a report that a man was found severely injured in a field by the Wetaskiwin Hope Mission Shelter.

When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old who was suffering from head injuries. He was then flown to a hospital in serious life-threatening condition.

RCMP says on Sept. 4, they found an individual believed to be responsible and took them into custody in Samson Cree Nation.

Police have since charged 36-year-old Shaden Buffalo with attempted murder and aggravated assault. The accused is expected to appear in court on Oct. 1.
