Motorcyclist, 21, killed in collision on Groat Road; police say speed a factor

By News Staff

Edmonton police say a 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Groat Road Monday afternoon, and speed is believed to be a factor.

The Edmonton Police Service says the man was riding north on Groat Road when he struck the centre median, propelling him into the front of a truck driving south.

It happened between Stony Plain Road and 102 Avenue around 3:15 p.m.

The rider was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Officers with the EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) are investigating.
