Edmonton police looking for U-Haul driver after stolen boat hit semi-truck

Edmonton police are turning to the public to help find the driver responsible in connection to a hit-and-run involving a U-Haul that was towing a stolen boat and a semi-truck, last Thursday.

The EPS says around 10:45 a.m., a semi-truck was stopped on the shoulder of southbound Anthony Henday Drive near the Cameron Heights exit ramp.

While stopped, a U-Haul that was towing a boat was driving south, when the trailer carrying the boat became detached and hit the semi-truck, causing extensive damage.

The U-Haul driver did not stop and fled the scene.

Police later learned that the boat and trailer had been stolen.

“We are asking for anyone with information about this hit-and-run collision to contact police at their earliest convenience,” says Const. Nicole Hetman. “Specifically, we are also looking for any dash camera footage from motorists who may have captured the collision.”

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
