RCMP say three people found dead in a home in Lloydminster, Sask. were murdered in a targeted attack.
Emergency crews were called to a home on the Saskatchewan side of the border town, around 50th Street and 47th Avenue, just before 6 p.m. for a wellness check.
Responding officers found three people dead inside the home. Mounties have not said how the people died, their ages or their genders, but say it appears to be a “targeted, isolated incident.”
Multiple media reports from the scene show yellow police tape blocking off a home, as well as an adjacent road and alleyway.
Investigators have not released any details on the suspect, or suspects.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Brian Nicholl says residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area, but stressed there is no threat to public safety.
“While I understand seeing more of a police presence can cause concern for folks, this is because we have people diligently working hard to solve this crime,” says Nicholl.
He says more details will become available after autopsies on the victims are complete.
Lloydminster is 250 kilometres east of Edmonton, straddling the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
