Man killed after being hit by car in St. Albert

The RCMP in St. Albert says one person is dead after being hit while crossing a road Tuesday afternoon.

Mounties responded to a report of a collision around 1:20 p.m. that occurred in the intersection of Liberton Drive and Lennox Drive.

Reports indicated a Honda Accord was driving south on Liberton Drive when it hit a pedestrian who was crossing in the south crosswalk.

Police and paramedics attended the scene, and a 75-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

RCMP notes the driver did remain at the scene and spoke to officers.

The collision is still under investigation, and RCMP is asking if anyone has any information, to contact investigators at 780-458-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
