St. Albert police share image of white van allegedly involved in shooting of three teens

Police in St. Albert are sharing an image of a suspect vehicle they believe was involved in a shooting that injured three teenagers early Monday morning.
St. Albert RCMP released the black-and-white photo Wednesday of what they describe as a white van with tinted windows.
The three teens were in a car on Grovesner Boulevard when they “had a very brief confrontation” with a white van, police say. The driver then followed them to Levasseur Road and Grandin Road, according to police, at which point shots were fired – around 12:50 a.m.
A 17-year-old boy was shot, RCMP say, and two other teenagers – a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy – were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A Facebook post from the teenage girl’s mother suggests the trio were shot at with a shotgun at close range. She claims her daughter’s boyfriend “took two direct shots to the back” while her daughter had “shot pellets in her hair.” The third teen was uninjured, according to the mother’s social media post.
Police say the shooter and victims did not know each other.

Mounties are still hoping to receive additional photos or videos of the suspect vehicle.
“We ask that residents of Heritage Lakes, Riel, and Grandin neighbourhoods that have surveillance cameras to have a look between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. Sept. 2, 2024,” RCMP said in a news release.
“Please advise RCMP if you have footage of this white van or anything suspicious.”
