Pilot dead in plane crash near Fort Vermilion: RCMP

A pilot was killed in a plane crash in a field near Fort Vermilion, Alta., Saturday evening.

The pilot was the lone occupant of the plane that crashed near Township Road 1090 and Range Road 152 before 8 p.m., according to Fort Vermilion RCMP.

Police say the crash affected power to all homes and several rural areas in and around Fort Vermilion.

“Workers are in the process restoring power however there are no timetables available at this time,” RCMP said in a release early Sunday morning.

The crash will be investigated by the Transport Safety Board.

Fort Vermilion is about 650 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
