Metallica concert to cause major traffic congestion around Commonwealth Stadium

By The Canadian Press

Police in Edmonton are warning drivers that a Metallica concert at Commonwealth Stadium will cause significant traffic congestion.

They say officers will be controlling vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area and drivers should try to find other routes starting at 4 p.m. while part of Stadium Road is closed.

Police say the road will reopen once traffic has subsided, but will close again after the heavy metal show is over at 11 p.m.

Police are also reminding concert goers to be respectful and responsible, and to ride home sober.
