Edmonton police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a hit-and-run collision that left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

According to Edmonton Police Service (EPS), around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, downtown branch officers witnessed a speeding gold truck on 106a Avenue and 96 Street.

Officers heard a loud noise before locating a severely injured pedestrian in a laneway along with a broken fence, both appearing to have been struck, officials said in a news release Wednesday.

The 45-year-old male pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved is described as an older gold pick-up truck with a headache rack and is expected to have front-end damage. Police did not release any images of it or any similar vehicles.

Anyone with information can contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
