ASIRT continues to search for witnesses in fatal shooting in Leduc

ASIRT says they are continuing to investigate a fatal police-involved shooting on June 19 in Leduc, and are asking the public for help in the investigation.

Around 11:23 p.m. on June 19, Mounties responded to a report of a man with a gun outside the Leduc Detachment.

Initial reports indicated the man had a gun and had consumed alcohol and prescription pills.

RCMP with help from the Edmonton Police Service were able to locate the man in his vehicle and setup a containment around him.

Police then attempted to communicate with the man, however, it was unsuccessful, and the man stepped out of his vehicle with a gun.

At that time, officers fired their weapons, killing the man.

ASIRT believes there were individuals who were in the area around the time of the shooting, and are looking to speak with them.
