Liberal MP Randy Boissonault addresses alleged ethics rule-breaking

Alberta’s only Liberal cabinet minister is again attempting to douse suspicion that he broke ethics rules.

Randy Boissonnault took questions at an announcement in central Edmonton Wednesday.

It comes after Global News reported some opposition MPs want Boissonnault fired — over what they say is text evidence — he broke the rules by continuing to help run a medical supply businesses while sitting in parliament.

“I’ve been to the ethics committee, I’ve worked with the ethics commissioner since I became a public officeholder again. The ethics commissioner has twice indicated that he has no concerns and so I’m interested in focusing on real issues,” said Boissonnault.

Boissonnault has repeatedly said he hasn’t been involved in that business since he was elected.

He’s expected to be back before the ethics committee in September.
