Edmonton police investigating possible Kijiji hot tub repair fraud

By News Staff

Edmonton police are investigating 17 fraud complaints in connection with a man failing to deliver on hot tub repairs and services.

The Edmonton Police Service says it is looking into the business practices of 55-year-old Kenneth Nicholls.

Police say clients have complained they gave Nicholls large deposits for parts and repair services that were allegedly never provided.

The EPS allege Nicholls sold used or damaged hot tubs to customers, “which were later determined to be damaged or significantly older than initially advertised.”

He also allegedly failed to return customers’ hot tubs entirely.

“Nicholls used to operate a hot tub store front on Yellowhead Trail and 87 Street, which has since closed,” police said in a news release. “He now works from home and advertises his services on Kijiji under the title of ‘Hot tub services.’”

Investigators believe there may be other clients who were affected.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
