2 children seriously injured after car runs red light, collides with ETS bus: police

By News Staff

Police say two children, aged seven and 10, are in hospital with serious injuries after the car they were riding in allegedly ran a red light before being struck by an Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) bus on Sunday night.

The driver of the car, a 39-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say charges are pending against her.

The Edmonton Police Service says none of the seven people on the bus were injured.

Police say the car, a Nissan Sentra, was going east on 107 Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. when it allegedly failed to stop at the red light and was struck by the transit bus, which was going north on 156 Street . The intersection was fully shut down while emergency services were on the scene.

The EPS major collisions investigation section is investigating.
