Police allege a 33-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her partner in southeast Edmonton this week, calling it a domestic violence incident.

Homicide police have charged a 32-year-old Edmonton man in connection with Wednesday morning’s death at a home near 3 Avenue and 42 Street SW.

Friday’s autopsy determined the manner of death was homicide, according to police.

The Edmonton Police Service says “multiple children” related to the victim and the accused were in the home at the time of the alleged stabbing. Police are not releasing any names to protect the children’s identities.

Officers were called to the home Wednesday around 5 a.m. on the report of a serious assault. They found the woman with life-threatening injuries. She was declared dead on scene.

The accused was taken into custody shortly after her death.
