Frost advisory issued for Edmonton ahead of overnight temperature drop

Environment Canada is out with a frost advisory for the City of Edmonton with temperatures expected to approach a record-low overnight.

The weather agency issued the advisory on Monday afternoon — it warns frost could damage some crops as clearing skies combine with a “cold airmass.”

“Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees,” the advisory reads. “Patchy frost is expected.”

The advisory is also in place for Parkland county, Sturgeon County, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc County, and Strathcona county.

The current forecast has the overnight low in Edmonton at 3 C, which is just past the record-low of 4.5 C for June 17. That record was set back in 2004.

The first day of summer is Thursday.
