Boy tells passersby about finding human remains in Strathcona County parks: RCMP

By News Staff

Alberta RCMP are looking for a boy who reported finding human remains in two Strathcona parks last week.

Strathcona County RCMP say the boy, who was around 10 years old, told different groups of passersby about the remains in Rundell Park and Strathcona Science Park on June 7.

Police say no remains have been located.

The boy approached two women on a bicycle in Rundell Park around 6:20 p.m. to report the discovery, according to police. “The boy declined to show the cyclists the location of the remains and rode away,” RCMP said in a news release.

Not long after, the boy approached passersby in Strathcona Science Park with the same information and again refused to give more details, police say.

Strathcona RCMP, Strathcona Fire and Rescue, Edmonton Police Service, Edmonton Fire and Rescue, and EPS Air-1 teamed up to search for the remains but found nothing.

RCMP are looking to identify the boy, who was wearing a blue t-shirt and riding a mountain bike. Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 780-467-7741, local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
