2 people bear sprayed during online sale meetups in St. Albert: police

RCMP in St. Albert are investigating a pair of incidents involving online sales of electronics where bear spray was used.

Mounties say during two reported incidents, individuals who were looking to sell electronics met with a man in Erin Ridge and were reportedly bear sprayed.

The suspect has been described as a younger man with black curly hair, a large build, and a French accent. At the time of both incidents, he was wearing a hoodie, track pants, and/or shorts.

RCMP is urging anyone who is looking to sell items through places like Facebook Marketplace to use a “Safe Internet Exchange Zone” while making the sale in person.

There is a zone set up in St. Albert at Servus Place.
