13-year-old riding bicycle killed in southeast Edmonton hit and run: EPS
Police say a 13-year-old was riding his bicycle when he was fatally struck in a hit-and-run in southeast Edmonton early Wednesday morning.
The Edmonton Police Service says a driver found the injured male youth around 4 a.m. on 34 Avenue between 48 Street and Mill Woods Road.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find the victim in medical distress, police say. He was declared dead at the scene.

“It appears that the male was operating a bicycle eastbound on 34th Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle,” Sgt. Richard Windover told CityNews. “That vehicle did not remain at the scene. It actually left the location and is unaccounted for at this time.”
The EPS major collision division is investigating. Windover says investigators were still working to confirm the identify of the victim, whose age was not immediately revealed, but later confirmed as 13-years-old. They are also looking to determine a suspect or suspect vehicle.

A damaged bicycle could still be seen on the roadway later Wednesday morning.
Police have since identified the vehicle as a blue 2014-2018 Mazda 3 sedan or hatchback. It is believed the vehicle suffered damage to its front end and driver side.
Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage on 34 Avenue around 6 a.m. to contact police.
