Motorcyclist, 21, in hospital after crashing into pickup truck on Gateway Boulevard

By News Staff

Edmonton police believe speed is to blame after a 21-year-old motorcyclist crashed into a pickup truck on Gateway Boulevard Tuesday evening.

The man was thrown from the bike and sustained serious injuries, police say. He was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police say a group of motorcyclists was going north on Gateway near 19 Avenue around 7:45 p.m. when the 21-year-old collided with the rear of the pickup.

Authorities did not reveal how fast the motorcycle or truck, which was also being driven by a 21-year-old man, were going. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

Gateway was closed between Anthony Henday Drive and 23 Avenue Tuesday night.

The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
