By News Staff

Police say seven people, including five children, were injured in a crash involving a school bus and truck in northwestern Alberta Monday morning.

All seven were taken to hospital with various injuries and have since been released.

Alberta RCMP say the crash happened before 9 a.m. on Highway 43 near Valleyview.

Investigators believe the bus was driving across the highway after stopping at Williamson Park Road when it was struck by a truck going east.

Police say the driver of the bus was issued two violations: one for failing to proceed when safe after stopping, and another under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Regulation.

Valleyview is about 110 kilometres east of Grande Prairie.
