SUV owner dragged, run over in Jasper Avenue carjacking: EPS

By News Staff

Police say a 26-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly dragged and run over by his own SUV during a carjacking in central Edmonton Saturday morning.

The Edmonton Police Service says it happened around 11:30 a.m. near 118 Street and Jasper Avenue.

Police allege an individual carjacked the white Jeep Cherokee from the parking lot of a restaurant, dragged and ran over the owner before fleeing through an alleyway and driving east on Jasper.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators with the EPS major collision section believe the incident was isolated. “All parties may be known to one another,” police said in a news release.

Officers are looking for the SUV and driver. They are asking anyone with relevant information or video to call 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
