By News Staff

An ambulance called to assist a woman in distress struck both the woman in question and the police officer helping her early Sunday morning, according to Edmonton police.

Officers came across a woman in medical distress in a parking lot near 101 Street and 82 Avenue around 2 a.m. They provided first aid and called EMS to assist.

When the ambulance arrived, police say it ran over the 25-year-old woman and an officer “while driving around the police patrol vehicle.”

Both the woman and officer were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by another ambulance.

The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating.
