Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries in Jasper Avenue hit and run; charges pending against driver

Edmonton police say a 30-year-old man is in life-threatening condition after a hit and run on Jasper Avenue late Friday night.

The Edmonton Police Service says the man was crossing Jasper, west of 109 Street, when he was struck by a dark blue Acura TL sedan around 11 p.m.

Police say the man was taken to hospital, where he remains.

Officers located the Acura near 118 Street and Kingsway Avenue shortly after, according to police.

“The driver and passenger were temporarily taken into custody,” EPS said in a news release. “Both have since been released and charges are pending against the 25-year-old male driver.”

The EPS major collisions section is investigating.
