7 teens charged in connection to assault outside St. Albert McDonald’s

RCMP in St. Albert say seven teens have been charged following an assault outside a McDonald’s on Nov. 28, 2023.

Mounties responded to the McDonald’s along St. Albert Trail, around 3:30 p.m., after receiving a report of an assault that was in progress. Additional reports indicated that weapons were being used, and some of the individuals that were involved were running from the area.

When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from injuries sustained during the incident.

Mounties learned through their investigation that the victim was beaten with a baton and had property stolen. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and was released the same day.

RCMP say several suspects ran from police but were apprehended.

Since, seven teens — all from Edmonton — were charged with various charges. Four were charged with robbery and obstruction. Two were charged with assault and obstruction. The final one was charged with assault with a weapon and obstruction.

RCMP note that all seven have been placed on conditions to not contact the victim and have been banned from the McDonald’s. Several of them have also been given conditions to not possess any weapons.

Mounties say the first person is expected in court on March 5, 2024.
