Man reportedly harassing women at U of A campus: Edmonton police

Edmonton Police Service has issued a warning to the public after a man has been allegedly following and harassing women at the University of Alberta campus.

Police say 39-year-old Faton Miftari, is under an order not to trespass at the campus.

EPS says the order was issued following other incidents where Miftari was following and harassing women.

Police also note that he was previously arrested on Sep. 14, and charged with criminal harassment in connection to a series of alleged incidents in the Ritchie area.

During those incidents, Miftari watched a woman’s home, went onto her property, banged on doors, asked about the woman, and looked into her windows.

Police say on Dec. 16, he was charged with trespassing by night, after reportedly looking into someone’s window.

Additionally, he also has prior convictions in Ontario, which include criminal harassment and breaking and entering.

Police are asking if anyone has experienced concerning behaviour from Miftari or witnesses him on university property to contact University of Alberta Protective Services at 780-492-5050 or police at 911 for emergencies and 780-423-4567 for non-emergencies, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
