Extreme cold closes Alberta ski hills

The temperature drop in Alberta has shut down some ski hills for the remainder of the week.
WinSport and Nakiska have announced they will be closed Thursday and Friday due to extreme weather conditions.
Environment Canada is currently forecasting highs of -27C, -32C and -28C, for the next three days, respectively.
Due to this extreme cold, WinSport will be closing the winter hill from Wed, Jan. 10 through Fri, Jan. 12.

Sunshine in Banff is closed Thursday, but customers are asked to stay tuned for updated on Friday.

An extreme cold warning is in place for Calgary as the temperature will continue to fall through the end of the week, with the coldest day expected to be Saturday morning.
Over the weekend, morning temperatures will reach -40 C in many areas.
With the wind chill, some areas could approach -50 C.
