Alberta RCMP say the 21-year-old man who was killed when his vehicle left the road and collided with a pole on the Anthony Henday was the suspect in a stabbing earlier Tuesday.

The Edmonton Police Service says the collision happened around 8:45 a.m.

They say the man was driving south on the Anthony Henday near the 153 Avenue exit when his Ford Fusion left the road and crashed into the pole’s concrete base “at highway speed.”

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
