Woman killed in hit-and-run on Victoria Trail: EPS

Edmonton police say a woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Victoria Trail late Monday night.
The Edmonton Police Service says it was called to Victoria Trail northbound near the Yellowhead overpass around 9:15 p.m.
Witnesses allegedly told police a woman was walking westbound across the northbound lanes of Victoria Trail against the light when she was struck. Witnesses described the vehicle as a blue minivan.
Police say the suspect fled the scene going northbound on Victoria Trail. They believe the vehicle would have sustained damage to its front end and perhaps even its hood and windshield.
Witnesses on the scene attempted to save the woman’s life but she was pronounced dead by EMS when they arrived.
The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating.
