3 dead after crash in Brooks, 6 injured: RCMP

Three people are dead after a crash in the Brooks area late Friday afternoon, Mounties say.
Brooks RCMP say reports came in at around 4:30 p.m. for a crash between a sedan and a pickup truck on Highway 1 near Township Road 164 in the County of Newall.
Mounties say when they arrived, Brooks EMS and the Tillery Fire Department were already on scene.
EMS pronounced those inside the sedan, a 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Medicine Hat, as well as a 33-year-old man from Redcliff, dead upon arrival.
Six people in the pickup received attention for varying degrees of injuries, but none were life-threatening.
While the investigation is still in the early stages, officers say those in the sedan appeared to have crossed the meridian and slammed into the pickup at “speeds exceeding the legal limit.”
Mounties closed Highway 1 going westbound and remained on scene while the collision analyst conducted its investigation.
Highway 1 reopened just after midnight on Saturday.
