18-year-old killed following collision in West Edmonton Mall parkade

Edmonton police say one person is dead following a collision at the West Edmonton Mall Thursday afternoon.

The EPS says officers responded to a welfare call in the north parkade at West Edmonton Mall around 1:45 p.m.

A report indicated that a Toyota Camry sedan was travelling through the parkade when an adult male passenger stood up through the sunroof of the sedan. As the vehicle was passing underneath a ramp, the passenger struck a concrete beam.

EMS was dispatched to the scene and took the 18-year-old to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision, adding speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in this collision.
