Townhouse complex, vacant home damaged in separate fires in Hermitage

Multiple units of a townhouse complex in Edmonton’s Hermitage neighbourhood were damaged by a fire – one of two blazes in the area Tuesday morning.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services first received a call at 3:55 a.m. for a fire at the townhouse complex on Hooke Road and Victoria Trail.

Thirteen EFRS units were dispatched, with the first one arriving on the scene at 4 a.m. The fire was called under control at 5:51 a.m.

The exact number of townhouse units damaged by the blaze was not immediately known.

Howson Crescent

That was the first of two fires in the neighbourhood Tuesday morning.

EFRS crews were called to a vacant building fire just a few blocks away – on Howson Crescent – at 4:16 a.m.

Edmonton Fire says six units were dispatched, with the first one arriving on scene at 4:26 a.m. The fire was declared under control at 6:25 a.m.

No injuries were reported in either fire. The cause of both is still unclear.
